Trip to NYC

Sooo...I'm back from my trip to NY and I had a blast! I went with my friends...there was six of us. We got up at 5:00 on Thursday morning, and what do we hear/see all over the T.V. and radio? A bombing in London! That totally freaked me out. We found out once we got there that the subways were shut down, and we wouldn't be able to use them - which was ok fine with me, because subways are yucky. But, Thank God, we got to the airport ok, and we flew to NY ok, and we were ok the rest of the weekend and nothing bad happened. We got to ride in a limo from La Guardia airport to our hotel, the Hilton in Manhattan. Yay for limos! Sooo fun. We poured water into the champagne glasses in the back of the limo and had a celebration hehe Seeing all of the city for the first time was so breathtaking! My favorite part of NY was Times Square. The colors and lights, in person, are awesome! What we did all weekend - we did sooo much! We walked blocks and blocks all over! I wanted to absorb it all, but that was impossible.

We went out to eat each night to nice place. First, we went to Angelo's, a restaurant in Little Italy the concierge recommended. That was my favorite one, because Italian is my favorite food It was all decorated with murals of Italy, and it was filled with Italian people! (thats one other thing I liked - lots of different people speaking lots of different languages ) When we were done and leaving, guess who walked in the restaurant? Actor Armand Asante! That was cool Didn't get to talk to him or anything, though, didn't want to bother him you know. The next night, we went to Sardie's, the place that is covered in caricature drawings of celebrities. I didn't think the caricatures were good, though, because I couldn't recognize anybody! None of us liked their food at all. Outside the restaurant, another celebrity! Comedian Jackie Mason! He was standing two feet away from me. The next night we went to Tavern on the Green, the famous restaurant in the middle of Central Park. It is the most beautiful place I've ever been! You walk through hallways, and the hallways are covered in mirrors that reflect the lights and there are rainbows everywhere! There were different themed rooms, and the one we were in was all glass walls so you could see out into the beautiful garden. There were giant chandeliers everywhere, each one a different color. There were eleborate carvings on the ceilings, and carpets covered in roses. The last night we went to "The View", which is a revolving restaurant on top of the Marriot Hotel. We had a beautiful view of the sunset and the lights of New York. They had good food - really fancy too - but our favorite part was the dessert! I ordered "Sherbert Ice Cream Palette" It was a metal artist's palette on a metal stand, and there were holes in it. In the holes, tiny ice cream cones, each one a different color/flavor! Isn't that neat! hehe We took a picture of it! hahaha Tourist!

We did alot of shopping, because my friends loooove to shop. I don't like to shop for clothes and accessories, really, I'm more of a junk collector hehe I like knick knacks and antiques and souvenirs. So we went into all of the fancy NY stores - Saks, Barneys, some others I don't remember the name of. Boooring. Then, we pass by this giant, two-story Disney store, and I just HAD to go into that! (my friends threw a fit - but oh well!) That was fun. We went to TIFFANY'S!! And now my life is complete LOL (Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my fave movies!) It is just like in the movie! We went to Trump Tower and NBC studios, Rockefeller Plaza, and then at night saw Times Square all lit up.

We went to the "Metropolitan Museum of Art." The building itself, without all the artifacts, was amazing to look at. (I wonder when it was built??) We saw a Greek statue exhibit, Egyptian pyramids, artifacts from Medieval castles, Medieval and Samurai armor and weapons, an exhibit of rooms set up to look like you were walking through a Victorian house, and my favorite, the paintings. They had many of the famous ones - Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh.
On Saturday night, we went to see the broadway musical "Light in the Piazza." It was in a theatre at the Lincoln Centre - which is beautiful! The theatre was very small and cozy, I liked it. We were a couple of rows from the stage, and the stage kind of went out into the audience too, so it was very nice. The musical was about a mother and a daughter who is mentally chanllenged (she was in an accident and hit her head) and they go to Italy and the daughter meets a boy and falls in love. The actors were superb. My favorite was the mother, she was charming, and the boy had a beautiful voice! I enjoyed it.

We saw the Statue of Liberty and I got all teary-eyed; it was beautiful. I couldn't believe it was right there in front of me! You know what I mean? And we went up to the top of the Empire State Building. It was so windy up there, my dress blew straight up!! I now have a new moment to call my "most embarrassing moment ever" LOL At least I got to take some cool pictures up there.

That's pretty much it! I wish I was still there soooo bad! I'm so moving to New York when I graduate! :D

My afternoon

My friends are going to Mexico on Sunday (without me!! boohoo!! hehe) and they went shopping for the trip, and I went along. Let me tell ya - going to the mall without money, that is torture on oneself!! I mean, if you're a girl. At the sports store there were these baseball pajamas that I want. And at another store, some tops that were reduced to $4.99. And at Banana Republic, a ring for $8.00! Banana Republic is usually expensive, so that was a good deal. Man. Does this make me a compulsive shopper? I think so. And then we went to Marble Slab Creamery where they have some of the best ice cream! It is a new discovery of mine. So far, I have been there twice. The first time, I got cheesecake ice cream, and that was delicious. This time I got chocolate peanut butter, and I didn't like it. I love peanut butter cups, but not this ice cream...isn't that weird? I plan to try every single flavor. Next time, I will either try caramel, or pina coloda. Ooh I can hardly wait! A power line fell down in our yard and set the yard on fire. The firemen were out there putting it out. There is now a huge black spot in our front yard. It was, like, the most exciting thing that has happened around here in weeks LOL Small town. My digital camera is broken and it's killing me because I like to take my digital camera EVERYWHERE and take pictures of EVERYTHING I'm so weird. And now I can't. There is a giant black hole in my front yard and I can't take a picture. Darn.

I would do anything for love...

So I was at the mall today......standing in the checkout line at "Charlotte Russe"......I bought two dresses...they were having a "buy 1 get 1 free" sale.......and I noticed couples walking around......always a girl followed by a guy...the girl would be wandering around looking at clothes...zig zagging in between the racks...ever so often nonchalantly pulling something out, looking at it, and then putting it back. And all the while the guy was following her every step, never really looking around, just looking at her, hands in his pocket......I look over at the dressing room entryway where three guys are waiting....two sitting in the chairs, one leaning up against the wall.......and I got to wondering about the scenario leading up to this:

A) Girl: I need a top for the beach, will you come with me to the mall?
Guy: I'll do anything as long as I get to be around you for the day. (he doesn't really say that, out loud he says "sure!")

B) Girl: Baby, on our way to lunch, we're gonna stop by the mall, mmk?
Guy: I'm so whipped. Ok.

C) Girl: (with puppy dog eyes) Will you pwetty pwease go shopping with me? (leans over to show cleavage)
Guy: Duhhhh.....yes.

D) Girl: Ugh, there's going to be so much traffic today, and the mall will be so crowded, and I really don't want to go by myself, blah blah blah...
Guy: I'm cornered and guilted into it! Dammit!

What do you think? Are there any other possible scenarios?

Have you seen the U2 video "All Because of You"? I am watching it right now. They are riding on a trailer all throughout the city playing music and fans are following them around cheering...isn't that awesome? If I was a famous rockstar that's how I would perform my concerts haha
